You spend your days creating lesson plans, solving problems, and meeting needs. You live a good, but busy life. So, why would you even want to bother writing about it on a blog?
The reasons are as numerous as the books you’ve managed to cram in your bookshelves! Here are just a few:
1. Blogging forces you to follow through with homeschool plans and projects. Perhaps you want to blog about a new unit study you plan to do with the children or maybe you mentioned on your blog your intentions to take a nature hike on Friday. Even if only Grandma and Grandpa are reading your blog, when someone is listening, you are more likely to follow through. Blogging creates accountability for how you spend your homeschool day.
2. Blogging creates a scrapbook journal of your homeschool year. You will find that your blog becomes a record of your homeschooling journey. There are photos and notes and lovely reminders that the sacrifices you are making are oh so worth it!
3. Blogging puts you in touch with the homeschooling community. There are wonderful homeschool bloggers out there walking the same path you are. When you blog, you share a common bond. You also find yourself connecting more through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram hashtags like #homeschool and #hsbloggers.
4. Blogging puts you in touch with homeschool companies. When you connect with the online homeschool community, you also find you are able to better connect with the companies that create the curriculum you love. You also find new companies that you might never have heard of otherwise.
5. Blogging is a useful creative outlet that has potential to be a family activity. There are so many aspects to blogging that keep your creative juices flowing and offer the chance for your children to be involved in everything from taking photographs for the blog to designing and keeping the site up to date.
6. Blogging has the potential to supplement your homeschool and your income. When bloggers and businesses connect, great things happen! Everything from trading curriculum for ad space to making a steady income from blogging is possible.
7. Blogging gives you the opportunity to encourage others. You know all the doubts and pitfalls common to homeschoolers. Some of those issues you’ve already worked through. Don’t keep that knowledge to yourself! Hold someone’s hand, guide someone through, teach and share, and in return be blessed!
