Blogging is so easy.

All you need to do is find a blog platform, sign up and start writing, right? Right.

To be a successful blogger, however, is a different thing. Blogging is one of the best ways to make money on the internet, but it must be approached with focus, passion and dedication.

becoming a successful blogger
There are things we must do and things we must avoid in order to become a truly successful blogger. Here are a few tips I’ve gathered along the way.

Post consistently

Irregular posting is one of the biggest ways to guarantee you won’t succeed, especially when you’re just starting on your blogging journey. Readers like knowing when they can expect to hear from you. If they only see sporadic posts in their inbox, they will move on to the blogger who gives them what they were looking for in the first place.

There are bloggers who have garnered enough success that they can post irregularly. Most can’t get by with that. You’ll need to figure out the frequency that works best for your readers. You may find you lose subscribers when you post daily as opposed to 3 times per week. Or perhaps you need to post weekly. Try different things and see what works best for your readership.

Learn SEO

If you don’t understand SEO, it’s time to learn. Start following SEO blogs, take a course or whatever it is that helps you to learn. You need to understand how your titles, headings, subheadings, and text affect your ranking in search engine results. If people can’t find your blog, it can’t move forward, can it? SEO isn’t difficult to learn, and it’s one of the most important things for the health of your blog.

Build relationships with your readers

Building relationships is important. Reply to comments on your blog, your social media accounts and your email. Your subscribers, followers and fans want to feel they know you. They want to relate to you. Make it easy for them. Be sociable. It’s not enough for them to care about your blog posts. They must know you care about them.

Build relationships with businesses

If you’re looking to become a professional blogger who makes money, you need to make connections with business. Whether want to be an affiliate, gain sponsors or do product reviews, companies need to know who you are. They need to get to know you as a business person. Build relationships with businesses.

Build relationships with other bloggers in your niche

  • Network with other bloggers
  • Guest Post on other blogs
  • Collaborate with bloggers in your niche.
  • Promote other bloggers on your social media by sharing their posts, tagging them and otherwise acknowledging their value. You’ll be providing great content to your readers while building a relationship with your fellow bloggers.
